Interdisciplinary learning

  • This workshop will introduce teachers and educators to the principles and practices of interdisciplinary teaching and learning. Interdisciplinary teaching is an approach to education that combines knowledge and skills from multiple disciplines to help students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. It is a particularly effective way to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century, which increasingly require them to be able to think critically and solve problems in complex and interconnected ways.

In this workshop, participants will learn about the benefits of interdisciplinary teaching, how to design and implement interdisciplinary lessons and units, and how to assess student learning in interdisciplinary contexts. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with other teachers and educators who are interested in interdisciplinary teaching and learning.

Working collaboratively with other educators, this course will help you:

    • Learn how to design and develop interdisciplinary teaching content.

    • Work with colleagues to collaborate on interdisciplinary learning experiences.

    • Assess student learning through interdisciplinary projects.

    • Identify resources and sources of inspiration for interdisciplinary learning.

Interdisciplinary Learning is all about going above and beyond the usual boundaries we place on students' learning. In this experiential, project-focused course we will explore the interconnection of different areas of education, the ways in which we can bring subjects and disciplines together, and how we can build transformative interdisciplinary learning experiences for our students.
